Your Nissan’s Accelerator Pedal Sensor transmits electronic signals to the engine throttle, directing it on how fast or slow to go based on the position of the gas pedal. When the gas pedal is pressed down, the Accelerator Pedal Sensor then notifies the throttle to open further and allow more air to enter the engine. As you put less pressure on the accelerator, the Accelerator Pedal Sensor signals the throttle to close incrementally (the amount it closes is based on the position of the pedal), which then decreases the rate of acceleration in your Nissan.
